After taking refuge in a dwelling in the forest I took notice of a young boy and girl, my neighbors you could call them. They lived in the cottage near me. In the cottage there also lived an old man with graying hair but young heart and great compassion.
I watched and admired these creatures, they were different than those humans that beat me and threw rocks at me. These were docile creatures, they neither asked for nor received any trouble, and they were humble and pleasant. I enjoyed observing them and their daily work. Even though I not once spoke nor interacted with these humans, I acquired a great deal of respect for them, I learned much from just merely observing.
After a period of time I figured out why they were so different from any other human that I had known or met. These people were poor; they had nothing, nothing to give and nothing to receive. They were the most like me, because I too had nothing to neither give nor receive. They lived in poverty and were grateful for the little food they had and the family bonds they possessed, they did not ask for more and they were not greedy, even though they had nothing but a cottage and cow to call theirs, they still managed to look at the bright side of things and work harder towards living a better life.
After having encountered many other human beings none had impacted me as much as these did. All of the others were horrid and hateful, full of remorse and judgment, but they were the exception, they showed me that no matter how beastly and revolting some humans might be, there is always a handful of good that step above everyone else.

I love how you managed to keep the thought of how he is feeling and what the creature is saying coplex while using simple things to keep us on track with who he is and what not.
