Victorian blog #1: Historical Context
During this period of time Victorians are already experiencing the use of elecricity and the velocity it provides. Instead of writing letters and sending them off, they are using telegraphs to communicate. At the time it's usually the more wealthy that have access to this type of communication. Lord Henry is one of the ones using such technology, comming home to "a telegram laying on the hall table" (Wilde 58). It is important to know that they are living in such a time when technology is blooming and opening bigger and greater doors for life. Life for the characters in the story is a little bit more fast pase and they enjoy of faster communication.

Well I believe that you have made an important point with the use of electricity in the story but I don't know how to immediately apply this to the plot of the story. Electricity might be important in this era but it hasn't really had a great influence in the story. Either way, you did a great job of paying attention to details. You have done a great job.
ReplyDeleteI agree you did a great job. We can never forget though that when doors open doors close. That when some people were getting wealthier some were gwtting poorer.
